Trust the driver...?
If you’re going on a field trip or game drive, please be sure to have an intelligent driver with you... not one that keeps spinning the wheel while you’re already stuck.
The K&S Learning Journey has started, with a significant episode planned in September 09 in South Africa. And then onwards to the future.... This is place to connect with the projects, with others and also with the country which will provide the lens through which we can shift perspectives.

On the blog you'll find numerous links to informationsites on SA. Here we sum up the most important things you need to know or do concerning your health:
- if you're an adult, it is recommended to get the inoculation for DTP (in Dutch).
- it's also recommended to ask extra advice on inoculations like Hepatitis B and Tuberculoses. A short phonecall with your inoculationcentre (GG&GD) might help to be sure!
- If you're travelling from a yellow-fever endemic area (the yellow fever belt of Africa or South America) you're obliged to be inoculated.
- children up to the age of 12 who have not completed the series of injections as infants are recommended to get the Hepatitis B inoculation. Booster doses for tetanus and measles can also be administered.
- Water from taps and bottles is both very well drinkable. Don’t worry if the colour is a bit different than you’re used to in your own country: the water contains humic acid, which stains it the colour of diluted Coca-Cola - this is absolutely harmless, and the water is wonderful.
- Many of the main tourist areas are malaria-free, so you need not worry at all. However, the Kruger National Park, the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, and the northern part of KwaZulu-Natal do pose a malaria risk in the summer months. Since we’re travelling there during winter, you need not to worry about this.
